Thanks Gadfly,

Take Care,

Antenna

I decided on the K40 top load. It did best at getting my SWRs where I am happy. at 0.8. All other antennas were 1.9 - 2.5

Thanks for the help gang.

Which K40 is that ? Is that one of the fiberglass top loads ??
The reason I'm asking is I have always had really "good luck" with K40 antennas . I have installed dozens of them and they usually tune well for me. I'm known around my area for bein' one of those wierd CB guys . So, when the "normal" folks want to talk they bring their stuff by the house for tips , tuning & education! LOL

Since the General Lee is a 10-meter (28MHz) radio and not manufactured as a CB (27MHz), it will need to be converted to cover the CB frequencies. Other than that, a good peak/tune and you are good to go. Late model General Lees already have the so-called "big" finals (MOSFET). Often the conversion/peak/tune is part of the sale. Some charge extra for it, some don't.

Also, although not required, a good noise cancelling mic (RK56 or Astatic 636L) is good choice on this notoriuosly "loud' radio. The stock mic will work and is clear, but it is very sensitive to ambient noise (piezo mic element) and therefore more likely to give you feedback (squeel) problems when transmitting with talkback.

Not wanting to be a party pooper but is it even possible to get a swr better than 1.0 to 1 think that is ideal and not actually possible in real life, certain of that .9?
