Does anyone know much abouy this radio? I'm still doing my homework before purchasing a new radio, and I can't sesm to find many reviews on this radio. I recently stopped by the 711 CB shop in Peru, IL and they recommended starting with a Cobra 29 LX or Uniden PC78XL. I like the functions of the Cobra 29 LX but to me it looks awful, plus I've read reviews of how that one doesnt like factory antennas. Right now money is tight, and the factory antenna on my Freightliner Columbia is what I'm stuck with. My company doesnt really want me messing with it. I know the Cobra 29 LTD Classic seems to ve a sought after radio, so is the Cobra 29 LTD Chrome a decent radio for a newbie to the CB world?

It's just a Cobra 29 LTD with chrome covers and mic. It should be an ok radio. Me I would go with the Uniden. Because I've had better luck with them over the newer Cobra's.

    TheBigCooler Thanks this.

I'm kinda torn between the Cobra 29 LTD Chrome and the 29 LX Chrome. I love the looks of the ltd chr, and despise the "plastic" look of the lx chr. What is the difference performance wise with the two? I like that the lx has a weather band, but will that work with my factory Freightliner Columbia antenna? I have a smartphone and can always access weather that way ic need be. Really the only thing the lx has going for me is the weather band. What do you guys think about these two radios? Also, one day I would like to upgrade antennas, but thats down the road when funds are there and I figure a way to do it without drilling holes (not allowed to). Let me know what you guys think between the Cobra 29 LTD CHR and the Cobra 29 LX CHR. Thanks.

i have a blk chrome 29, love it! but really how it looks is unimportant, so i would go for the weather radio option since you shouldn't be messing with your phone when driving. If you're on a budget, i'd see what they have used that's been tuned, and put a noise cancelling mile like a 636l.

I will probably end up with the lx. Thats true, the smart phone does me no good going down the road. I already have a Astatic 636l mic. Do you think the weather board will work with the stock antenna on the truck? Eventually will upgrade the antenna, but thats a later project.

The weather monitor should work fine with the stock antenna. The radio, however, won't work at optimum efficiency with the stock antenna and coax.
