Sorry I am posting this a bit late, forgot to do it last week.

This is list of a few ham operators that I made contact with on the ten meter band. They were made around the 28.400 MHz SSB area. I was sitting in Sarasota, Fl around 4pm to 5pm.I was using a stock, out of box RCI 2970n2 and a Wilson 5000 trucker antenna, tuned for 28mhz.

No BS "Peak N Tune" needed...

Yep, stock out of box with modulation limiter intact... Comments were made about me having "beautiful almost studio quality" audio too...

J/K Why sure, ya gots to have everything turned to the right, everything peaked and tuned, snipped and clipped an' a special audio mod known only to that "certain" CB shop--an' , of course, a Big linear!!!!!:biggrin_25514::biggrin_25522:

I used to talk to "Mike" every evening on the way home from work on 20 Meters with an un-modified IC 706 MKII and 100 watts. He was in Barcelona, Spain and he sounded like he was on the phone just down the street. Same thing on 10M with such countries as Japan, Australia, S. Africa, S. America, barefoot radio with no mods---just right out of the box from AES! Mobile AND base. All 100 watts. I own a 700 watt "leenyar", modified and filtered for Amateur...... naaaaaa, too much trouble to fool with! If he can't hear me with 100 watts, I don't need to talk to him!:biggrin_25523:

the smug to post ratio is unbelievable. I can talk all over the world with this Cobra 200 on low side, right here on top of this eastern Kentucky mountaintop. That's home, though. On the road, I need more power. I get what you're saying, don't get me wrong. The splatter boxes and shear ignorance of the average driver gets annoying. But that's what they do and that's what other frequencies are used for. Let the drivers, and annoying cb shops, do their thing. You catch a lot,of HAMs disobeying the law on "the trucker channel" just so they can be heard and have a bigger sense of self.
