You still have to take a test to get your Tech. License they just dropped the CW test, and even with a license I think these radios would still be illegal I may be wrong but when i have some more time I will check into it. There are some Hams on here that would know for sure.

Magnum's are the heaviest built radio out there. They are Mil-Spec radios. Designed to be able to take a licking and keep on ticking. I am not much for kickers.

The General Lee, if setup right has much more modulation then the other radios. However, it must be setup right! The ones that dont sound right are the ones that have it over modulated.

And anymore, there is not test for the Tech License. But all these 10 meter radios are illegal when you convert it for 11 meter. Go figure. There are enough of them out there. You are not going to get caught so don't worry about it.

Gee, I hope you don't intend to use an HF radio on CB frequencies. Also, "extra channels" on a CB are illegal.

Actually, you are correct. If you are going to test for Amateur Radio, the Technician test is the first you will take. The CW is no longer required.
Also, those junk 10 meter radios in the truck stops are illegal for ham radio operators because those radios are not type certified by the FCC for amatuer radio use. The CB'rs buy them then perform a simple mod and then they have an illegal CB.

Yes exports are illegal .... even for hams to use. However the FCC will not go after unmodded radios ones that don't cover CB .....

The only problem I have with them is they wind up on 10 meters with no license to use them there .....
