many exports are illegal for ham use too however the fcc will not fine a ham who is using one that is not modified. These exports are under FCC rules illegal cb sets not 10 meter radios.
If the export radio makers had a living brain cell they would have made then so that when you modified them for cb it REMOVED 10 and 12 meters.

Cobra 29.
Like an iron skillet, they last forever, no matter what you cook in them.
Exports are great too, but, use them while they last.

EXPORTS ?
Sorry but most are at best not very good at all ....
As for this rumor about they being banned they already are banned but it's never going to be enforced. i'll beleve that when they go after the places that sell them and SHUT THEM DOWN ......
And that right up with when pigs fly ......

heh, the FCC HAS shut down shops that sell these illegal radios. Not only has specific details as to the who are where been posted on the ARRL web site, but you can also find examples in the FCC enforcement logs on the FCC web site. As to how often this happens, well, not enough. The FCC does not have the resources to go after the CB'rs on a large scale. Too bad some people just can't follow the rules to begin with.

The difference between 4 watts and 18 watts will never be noticed on the receiving end. It's such a tiny amount of power. What many CB'rs don't understand about their radios is that the only thing they accomplish by "turning up the power" is exeeding the design specs of the radio, reducing the quality of the signal, and shortening the life of the radio.
An improvement on the antenna will always yield positive results.
These CB shops around the country are making money on "tune and peak", lol. All they are doing is ripping people off.
