And coming across 80 my buddy was talking and he was cutting in and out. I have a new mic n when i use it they all say i key up n thats it. So my ? Is where should i start looking coax cable cb antenna? Im running a cobra w the dimmer knob n weather channel i forget the model. N a firestik antenna thats mounted to top of mirrow bracket. Have you tried talking when you're stationary and get the same effect? If you don't, one possibility I'd suspect is the antenna, flapping in the breeze with a bad connection when you're driving, having it flex back and forth, causing the fluctuation in your TX for the reason you stated.

Bad mike. Make sure the connection is tight to the radio first. My guess is loose/broken wire in the mic tho. No mic, no receive either. If you can borrow one, try that first. Could be in the radio too. The wires that go to the mic connection.

Well i retightened the cb mounts n antenna still having people say im hard to understand when im stationary to. I tried another mic no difference also noticed when i hit the button to talk my cb lights get dull then when i let go of button they get brighter any good cb shops on 80 from central pa to ohio turnpike. Was looking into a cobra chrome.

I missed the tree part. You could've broke the antenna.

Talk to someone near you. If the audio cuts in and out while you're still strong on the S-meter, it isn't the antenna.
While talking, knock on the top of the radio like you're knocking on someone's door. See if the cutting out goes in time with the knocking. If so, then you have a loose connection in the radio. If not, you could have something gone bad.
It's also possible that you simply had a really bad tune job, and the radio is literally putting out that bad of a signal... -
Your radio could have a bad driver.

Bobs cb exit 70 of i80. I have never used them but heard they do decent work

firesticks are great antennas till you hit something, the solder at the base always breaks. buy a francis antenna. It don't perform as good but harder to break... lol.
