Just passed my technician test. 33/35 questions. They said my call sign could be posted on the website as early as Monday (or so they said they've seen it that fast before). I was expecting more people to be there. I was the only one testing. They asked me if I wanted to take the general too but as I was planning on a January test date I was no where ready for that test. I just began studying for general a few days ago.

    Congrats...

You should have sat for the general, you may have passed it.

I was told that no scores were ever given out, even though I never asked, I was under the impression it was pass or fail.

    L.B. Thanks this.

    Congrats!

No; scores are not withheld. You generally stand there and watch them grade your exam.

Yes they graded it right in front of me. He asked me how I thought I did and I told him there were two question I guessed at and those were the two that I got wrong. The grader didn't even get them right when we went over the question. He called them "trick questions." So for those who questioned wether I get the theory vs just memorizing the questions, I got the theory. Now as far as the general test, I admit I have a bit of studying to do. I'm not going to be able to breeze though that test.

Interesting, I was told otherwise, actually told to sit down and relax while they check them, this is three different testing locations around the country but ... I don't care because I’ve had my ticket for a while and not returning to retake a test. My other licenses (FCRT now GROL) and my certs were the same thing, they graded them away from me, without the benefit of knowing the score, they were just pass or fail. My first and second class were taken right at the FCC office long long before they had any third party testing.

    But nevertheless, congrats.

Scores are given out, the VE’s (Volunteer Examiner's) are required to do so.

What the VE’s are not allowed to do is tell you what questions you got right or wrong or what areas you require more study on. Not really sure why but that is how it is. The VE manual that outlines the testing rules can be found at http://www.arrl.org/ve-manual.

License posted to the website today. That was fast but they spelled my name wrong! Transposed two letters in my last name.
