I've been studying for my technician license and am consistently getting 85-90% on the practice tests. What is a passing score?
Also, I've been testing from the old question pool. Anybody know of an app that has the new question pool so I can get a better idea of if I'm ready for the test?

You need to get 26 correct out of 35 (74%).
A good site for practice exams is http://www.arrl.org/exam-practice.
A site a friend of mine used to upgrade to General is hamexam.org. There, you can look at all the questions in the question pool, with only the right answers shown. Good for the "memorizers" among us.L.B. Thanks this. -
Personally I feel it would be in someones best interest to actually learn the theory instead of memorizing the correct answers ...windsmith Thanks this. -

I've heard the test described as being somewhat less complicated than the written exam for the CDL .
I'm sure you will pass the test. -

FYI, the majority of the Technician exam is on rules and regulations, safety, and operating practices. Very little involves actual radio. The higher class exams are a lot more theory oriented. -
If your passing the ARRL test go ahead you will do just fine. Most of the radios now being used are not the old Heathkits alot of us started on by building our own radios.
windsmith Thanks this. -
Study for at least the General test as well. Theres no addition cost for taking it (and the Extra) at the same time you take the Technician test.

Oh wait... You were talking about me.
Teach me obi wan! I'm sure you would be a great mentor since you know me so we'll already.
I'm used to people assuming the worst when they find out I'm a lowly truck driver but I'll never get used to it on a truckers forum. Who knows, I could be a 20 year veteran of radar surveillance who taught radar theory and radio and computer operations for DoD and hold two college degrees and multiple computer certifications. Oh wait... I do!
