I have a Stryker 440 and a Texas Star 350hdv in my big truck and a General Lee in my Personal truck. Connex 4600 are good if you're ok with quiet talkback, thats the only bad thing I know of with the connex 4600. Of course that just my 2 cents.

Hey, i was looking at pre amps ... recieve amps.... They sound great, help you pick up signals fromm further away, and their is no "squashing" on everybody...

are these pre amps legal?

Not illegal. Only the ones that boost the transmitter power are!
Remember this, too. When you amplify incoming signals with a pre amp, you're also going to amplify the incoming noise along with it! So, while there can be an advantage to the pre amp, there is also a downside sometimes. Think of the old saying, "Garbage in, garbage out"!

I agree if you amplify your recieve you are getting twice as much noise with it.

I have found that the receive amplifiers ONLY work well when the propagation is LOW & noise levels are somewhat quiet ! NOT recommended for the "party row " at the TA ! Too many lot lizards & CB rambos there !

I run a General Lee in my truck. It's not super powerful, but I have no problem getting out when I need to say something.
