RadioActive seems to have a bit of a bad rep. I have a rule on mods, If I cant watch it aint happening.

I have had the chance to work on radios behind them. I foun d on the 2 imports I opened they had not touched them at all, even thouggh they charged for a SuperTune or some such nonsense. The good side was the radios were not damaged.

I hope he paid with credit card! Get your money back!
Bells CB in Florida is where I buy my export radios...Never had a problem!

Screwdriver at Bells makes you a video of your new radio and the tune up like this,
    He answers the phone too.

The best microphone for the HP Galaxy radios are the Ranger.....better sound than a road king or astatic. Unless you can find an old roadking before they were made like cheap crap...

This is the Ranger Mic I use.....WAY better than a new Road King or Astatic...Heavy built too...

Buy the radio of your choice, untouched, then get with me and get it done right at most likely the lowest prices anywhere. I promise.

I do not think you should take comments as insults and I do not think people here are trying to insult you. I realize it is a disadvantage if you reside in another country to have a good bead on what choices are best for you. However I think hayseed said it well some research before spending such large sums would have been desirable. Look at the following link. While out of stock right now they state more will be in soon. If you are smart you will avoid endless useless (often destructive to the radio) mods, the most you should do is their $35 conversion. Their base price is $435. No reasonable speaker should be over $40 and that is pushing it. A Roadking mike is around $50 on eBay, if you are going high end commercial you can still wholesale a Shure 577B for under $200 but it will need to be rewired/converted for the 98VHP. All you really need is the RK56. I mention these options to give you an idea of what your total cost should be to a company that is not going to rip you off.

    http://www.bellscb.com/products/tenmeter/galaxy/Galaxy_DX_98VHP.htm

Study their list of mods and prices but be smart and avoid all these mods. Even the Nitro knobs are a bad idea as the LED rings fail easily, Jewel knobs are too heavy for the shafts on the radio controls over time wrecking them one by one. Not to mention few tech's have the delicate touch needed to avoid crushing the tubular shaft which causes the annoyance of the concentric knobs turning each other. Just not worth it, bad idea to have. Look cool but why trash a decent radio, each frill, each mod is only going to reduce the reliability of the radio anyway. Just have it properly converted and aligned for the new range you will be using and quit while you are ahead. Letting any shop talk you into high prices for things you were better off not doing is never going to end well for you.

Learn your lesson yet at least try going after the company that robbed you by contacting the State Attorney Generals office for the state of the company in question. You can find their website by searching, register your complaints (tell your story). Also find the Better Business Bureau in that state and lodge complaints there. You may not get your money back but at least try, enough legal pressure from the state just might convince the company to give you back your money. They may be crooks with no desire to make it right, they may not care about you at all. Yet to avoid legal troubles out of fear of their state they may refund your money. You never know, worth trying at the very least.

EDIT: I should add maybe you overlooked their comment: "Arrived in the US Customs on 1-8-15 and may be available to customers by the end of January.". So check back on the link I gave, sooner or later they will have a limited number meaning get it as soon as it becomes available before they sell out again. This model is expensive enough to imply they are not going to get many in at a time.

There's a reason people call it 'Radio HACTIVE'.

An expensive lesson to be sure. Next time, do a bit of research.

All that radio really needs is the tune and channel conversion...That is all Bells did to mine.
That would be 470 plus shipping. Skip all the other mods.

I ordered online and then called them twice. They answered both times.
They are a really busy shop so give them a chance.

Then buy this Ranger Mic....WAY BETTER than the new RK-56
I have all three and the Ranger sounds the best. Half the price and really a heavy duty Mic and cord.
