Yes and no depending upon who is using it. The code 10-4 actually means Ok, Message Received. Later on drivers reversed this to 4-10 meaning specifically yes, without a reference to the readability of the signal. Somewhere along the line in the area of the 70's to the 80's it started being common to hear 42 which specifically meant yes with emphasis, implying strong agreement (or a strongly emotional yes). So while one today could use any of these three terms to mean yes definition is lost if one does not know the difference. 10-4 is yes but includes information implying the signal received is of good strength or quality (some stick to the original intent which merely means yes I heard you fine), 4-10 merely means yes, 42 means hell yes.

And just for clarification, 10-4 is from the official 10 code, while 4-10 and 42 are a product of CB lingo.

10-42 is your home, for example 10-27, 10-42 change channels to your home channel, LL your 42. Call your home. 10-19, 10-42 go home. Got to go have a urgent 10-200.
shortened version of 42 is just cb slang you wont here it on say business or public safety, probably not ham. Just trucker cb.mike5511 Thanks this. -
