Just had to make a few videogates tonight to settle what I said in a earlier thread, that just because the Sun go's down, doesn't necessarily mean DX dies out after dark on 11 Meter... Tonight was mostly the East Coast.

Was also able to make contacts in Australia on 38lsb....This was around 7:30pm (437 wasn't in Australia like I first thought, but Louisiana...I was having a hard time understanding his accent)

After 8pm and DX still rolling strong

It's after 9pm now, and things haven't let up...But it's getting late to make another video, so you'll have to take my word for it, or turn on your radio! -
Wonder how he likes his crow?

Auroral skip is even stranger. It is like living under a metal sky over two thousand miles in diameter. Everyone sounds like they are next door with S meter readings to match. Living east of Billings Montana there were times you could be out in the woods with no moon at all, walking around like there was a full moon to see by. Except it was a flickering green glow and you could hear crackling sounds. Very weird and very eerie. Especially the crackling sounds which made one wonder when ET was going to show up. I wish I had owned a DVR back then because I still don't know if the sound was in my head or actually audible sound. No I cannot describe it better you just have to experience it. On the CB it sounded like you were in a large town with hundreds of people who had signals which appeared to be in your neighborhood except that they were located from east of Winnipeg, west to B.C to Alaska up north, to east of Fargo and west to Washington down south. Like one giant town meeting. Very hard to describe with words and it went on until everyone had for the most part gone to sleep. Sometimes you would experience this every night for a while then months would go by where all was quiet at night.

True sometimes skip still rolls on 11 meter after dark. The first time I talked on 10 meter was to a few fellas down in Florida. It was probably about 10 pm.

It's just all about "Conditions"...Most of the time the book is right, and DX die's out when the Sun go's down...But that's not to say it's written in stone...The DX in the video's finally died out about 9:30pm...And the next 3 days was about the same...It stuck around till about 9:30...But I have talked skip way up in the morning hours till I couldn't hold my eyes open any more and finally had to hit the sack with it still rolling, so I have no idea what time it finally died out....
Bottom line: "It's a Mother Nature deal"... -
hmmm...lets see..over the last couple of days I've worked a couple Cuba stations, South Cook Islands, a couple of South Koreas, Finland, Argentina, Chile, Canada, and a handful of US stations from my kitchen table at 30 watts. Of course that's on 10 meter though.

Yep when conditions are at their best, skip keeps rolling on 10/11 meters into the hours of darkness, and yes you can work other countries on low power.
