    I am trying to find an antenna extension cord. I want to move my CB from overhead to on my dash. All I is a 3' extension, but all I can find at truck stops it the plug2plug to run from antenna to CB.

    Can some one help me or edumacate me??

    Assuming you've already confirmed that there's no extra coax sitting up above the headliner, etc., then any CB or commercial two-way shop could make you one in 15 minutes. Or probably quicker to just buy a pre-made coax lead that's a little longer (like the cable you saw), even if it's part of a cheapie Barjan/Diesel CB antenna kit from a TS. Then buy a double female barrel connector to join the coaxes.

    That way you'd also be picking up a spare mount & severely compromised (if typical) spare antenna in case some catastrophe befalls your main antenna. A few extra feet of coax won't reduce your CB's performance in any noticeable amount.

    thank you. I will look for a 'double female barrel connector'. I had already bought a plug2plug antenna cable thinking that would work so I already have that.

    I would have one made but I don't know of any CB shops. Maybe RadioShack could do it.

    LOL! I haven't been in NC long enough yet to have learned anything about either NASCAR or "Professional Wrestling", a/k/a Rasslin', but I understand the sentiment :)

    Here's a pic of a typical one. The orifishiul nomenclature for it, either from Amphenol's part number or a Mil Spec line item -- I dunno which, is PL-258:
    PL-258 Double Female.jpg

    No need to get too hung up on whether the insulator, visible from either end and surrounding the center conductor, is Teflon®, Cycolac®, Polyethylene, or any of the other myriad other materials. The difference in loss at CB frequencies will be equally negligible. It would be different if you were doing EME ("Moonbounce") communications at VHF or UHF frequencies, but then you'd also be using much lower loss feedlines than what is usually used for HF (below 30 mHz) to go to your multi-element array. Ditto worrying about whether the metal used is nickel plated brass, gold plated *something*, or Cadmium plating. Since you won't be soldering to it, it can *almost* be made of wood ;-}

    As Rat Shack has become more of a cellphone and cable/satellite TV subscribing agent, it's increasingly unlikely to find a sales guy at one of their stores who can solder, etc. Plus the company just filed for Chapter 11 (I think), so expect even more non-technical people behind the counter.

    Hope that helps. At least you've got a picture to compare with the blister packed items at truck stops. However, a Rat Shack may very well have one of these connectors on the rack.

    My tractor has Andrews 1/2 superflex, but maybe overkill I just had it laying about. On 11 meters you can use almost anything.

    Tried a string but it keeps brakin.
