Do not hook it up, Your Galaxy needs to be setup for driving a amp, also you need a high drive amp to put behaind the Galaxy.

If this is one of the older 99's, just have your DK (dead key) set around 2w's and start talking...Be sure your SWR is 1.5 or lower...Nothing really expencive...Shouldn't really need to do anything to the radio, just wire that sucker-up and start cutting lips.

If it's the New 99v2, it should still work, just keep a low DK.

hey thanks for responding , older galaxy dx99v , so i just need to turn down rf gain to 2w at dead key , swrs are set at 1.2-1.5 , do i need a larger coaxial cable , rg8 or rg58 , if it draws 60 amps on full power will this screw my altenater up , oh yeah , this is a mobile application , yes im going to run full size wire to battery , do i need to wire a fuse in positive side and what size fuse

Would be a good idea to put a inline fuse on the positive side of the battery close to the terminal as possible...As for as coax go's, I would use something a little better than RG 58...mini-8 would be OK.

I have no idea what amperage alternator you have, but you should be OK...If the headlights dim when you key up the radio and amp, then you may want to look for a larger amperage alternator...They have larger alternators that are drop-in replacments so you don't have to change brackets. If you end u going this route, you may need to also change out the charge wire that runs from the alternator back to the battery to a bigger gauge. Those Palomar 450 amp box's don't pull all that much amperage, so you will probably be OK just hooking it up with what you have.
