Does anybody know who is at Prescott, AR on I-30, AND, the 126 on I-40 in TN??????? I have a radio from a co-worker and that is the two shops he has had work on his radio. I'm fixing to find out what kind of "tune" they did and how good their work is. (I think I already know about Prescott...)

Only what I've read and based on that alone, I'm inclined to think the same.

I'll never go back to the Prescott shop, I thought he was a crook.
I switched trucks and had feedback on the am/fm speakers. Had them double check the SWR's and they bench tested my Connex,
He told me my radio was shot, something about his watt guage being maxed out when he keyed up my radio. He wanted to sell me a new radio bad.

That was a year and a half ago and my radio is still working good.

In general, are the CB shops found on the national truck stops (PFJ, TA, etc.) any good?

In general how does one judge Peter by the actions of Paul.

Well, try as I might, I can't figure out how that answers my question, so I guess it's just another snarky response.

I would have thought by 65 one would have gained at least some wisdom in life. So take my reply any way you wish. I will try to rephrase it in as simple terms as I can. Is it fair to judge someone by the actions of another? Yes or no? Should I judge you as a student truck driver or in general all of you by the actions of the one driving drunk that almost killed me on highway 666 in New Mexico back in the 70's? Don't bother looking on a map so many complaints over the years came in the state renamed the highway. A narrow winding two lane, one of the most dangerous to drive in those days. Hopefully they also widened it by now. My answer was both honest and perfect. You ask about a specific shop and see what responses you receive from the experiences of others with that shop. Or take your chances. Your question was so broad as to be stereotyping. If you were asking what are the statistical odds maybe I can help you out. I have been a technician for a half century. I can only name 3 other techs I would trust to work on my gear if I went blind and could no longer work. 3 out of many. Does this help?

Before you spend valueable $$$ on gettin the radio more power...Google the peak n tune myth...Then make a decision...
I was at a shop late last week in bay town tx,dont wanna say their name but they use the same 4 letters for their name..
There was a tall slim fella in their that was stuck on the idea of peak n tune and super mod....

I went in with a new 29chrome fresh out of the box a cpl days before and wanted a cpl small things done..Well i got my echo, blue lights changed to red..They couldnt align nore did they clean up my astatic mic....I got a few lil scratches on my front bezel and i pointed it out..The tec mumbled something as he walked away...Most tecs will use the delta tune knob for the echo but he used squelch..Another tec askedhim how come but i didnt hear the reply..I end up askin anyways..I asked for a 90 deg end put on my mic and got it but it was done so that it wouldnt fit correctly cause volume was in the way..Went back and an owner type looked at another cobra for orientation and flipped 180 deg in the opposite way...Not the way i wanted but no biggie..I fixed it myself....
Back to the peak n tune bit...I told the tec i might be putting it with a linier and he popped out and again said it will "HAVE TO BE " peaked n tuned and super modded....

Shop itself seemed deciently stocked but stuffy and dusty as aw hell..Another tec had a bit of a ####y attitude but not rude,a hird tec seemed like work interferred with life itself..
These are my personal impressions of this shop and i had never been there and dont know anyone but they seemed to be known and also been around a long time..
Ill not go back but a few that were there along with me seemed to like them..
Exit 789 @ valero parkin lot in baytown tx..
