| Yeah I would think U should be able to especially with a tuner, Now if I could find a job that puts me on the road I know I have a 706 somewhere around here and I can use the outbacker, then we could start our own net and inc, it through this board, hmmm. |
| |||
| Actually if I remember correctly there is a net on 20 meters that was posted in the archives here, there is also a 10m net as I have heard but found nothing on it via the web. |

| I'm pretty CB stupid apparently. I have no idea except wire it up and turn it on. Pretty good friends with the guys at the local CB shop so they keep it tuned right. I have a Galaxy DX48T Big Rig Series 10M amature in the 379. It has the A B C D E F and whatever else selector. Never really mess with it much though. Just talk on it. I do know my father has a Connex 4300 or something like that and we were close to 12.5 miles apart and talking to & recieveing each other like we were 20 ft apart. Thats what I like about it. That and at the local mills all the yahoo's gabbing on the mill channel when I need to tell my info to the scaler, I can walk right over them and get what I need done.. done.

| There ya go pete,, Nice work, and good reason to be loud and as for your dads radio, out of the all that4300 is one of the best built I have seen. K7, I ran an outbacker for a short while but that external tuning box was cumbersom, all mt other HF mobiles have been homebrew, even now that I am local and slip seating I am using a hmebrew ant,, I made my own vicegrip quick mount, You should see mine compared to the POC you can buy, I am using a hustler mast and coil with a whip from a k-40, then I found out it was a real hard time getting a good rf ground on theese international daycabs so i devised a radial system out of one of thoes ground planes you can buy, I modded it to fit on to my mount.. I have gotten the swr down to about 1:1.7-9 so I am happy. only problem is when I get into a different make tractor it will all go out the window, I just find commercial ants for hf way too expensive for what they actually do, so when need I pull out the arrl ant book(phone book lol) and have at it. |

| Thanks Doma. So far it has been the best "out of the box" radio I've ran. Had a few cobras and a kicker or two, but the kickers didn't last long and had more problems out of them than they were worth. The only problem I've had out of the DX48T was the coax jack came loose. Quick fix and it talks better than ever.

| the amps were probably short lived due to too high swr with cheap transistor amps if the swr is not super low like 1:1 it will kill the transistors, thats why old tube amps are so great they are bullit proof electronicly but they cant take physical abuse... I think your radio has 2 toshiba finals and puts out around 50 watts A.M. I might be off on that one, people like to sqeeze more power out of them but it is not worth it, 50 watts 30 miles away compared to 100 watts 30 miles away will make really no noticable difference on the receiving end meter, and remenmber I have worked every country on the ball with QRP which is 5 watts or less, any way I love that radio it is a real looker, hmm maybe time to put aside the 99v. |
