I am wondering what the best kind of cb I should get. I have had some cheap ones for my personal car that didn't work to well. Were should I go to get the radio and antenna(s) for a resonalbe price?

Can't go wrong with a Cobra 29LTD for your first radio. But on the flip side, I have a little radio shack backup unit that is a mean talker and reciever for what it is and what I gave for it. Suprised me.

My Step-Dad (been driving for 40+ years) bought me a Cobra 29 WX NW ST for my birthday. Retails for like $170. He said it's a solid radio that has great reception and quality. I didn't know much about them but he said it's easy to get tuned in and works great.

ive had a few radios i am on 4 now.... and its the cobra 29 ltd with Night watch, and its deff the best so far. I got it tweaked/tuned and it works great, but i also have set up a nice little antenna system myself. a wilson silverload ftg 4' although the antenna, or at least mount will be specific to the type of vehicle your driving, or how many holes your willing to put in the body... if any at all. if youd like you can PM me to and ill give you a few places to get great deals...

The Cobra 25/29 are great radios to start out with. They can be made to talk like a big Dawg. I would suggest that you look into getting a good antenna and coax also, thats 90% of what makes a radio TX/RX well.

cobras are good entry level. but if you want all the toys, a good entry radio is a connex 3300, or a galaxy 33. the connex has echo, and peaked and tuned with a good antenna can put out like 30watts

Keep in mind that the so-called "10 Meter" radios are against the law for CB and can cause you grief. :biggrin_2553: Do not be tempted to operate one of these things on the actual 10 Meter band. The licensed users WILL track you down and turn you in to the FCC! :yes2557: Ten meters requires a license.
I would stay with the Cobra.

You can' t go wrong with the Cobra 25 or the 29 in any form you want they make them configured several different ways but the more plain old radio you have the less to go wrong. and as far as where to buy try this place they have been in business for years and always as cheap as any body and some times cheaper than most. http://www.copper.com/cart/

I bought a simple Uniden 68 from Wal Mart for $79 and had it for MANY years WITHOUT one #### thing done to it and everyone said it sounded crystal clear until I sold it to my brother and he had it opened and crapped it up, LOL. Don't listen to the crap about expensive radios...a simple Uniden 68 will do you very well for a very good price man. This is the CB Radio (<<< one of our advertisers sells this) I had for many years without ONE single problem. Do NOT get it opened up and screwed with and it will do you well I can attest.
