I used to go to Clays back in the '80s...Clay set my radio up for me in '89 and it's still going strong today! I was thinking about getting a new radio and having him set it up but it sounds like it's not as good a shop as it used to be...That's a shame.

I've always recommended that shop whenever people ask me where my radio was set up. I guess now I'll have to tell them that it might not be the same as it was back then.

Clays no longer does Tech work, since they went all
modern all they do is internet sales.
They have been sending people to the #349(Ranger)
    for quite some time now.
Last I heard they wont even do SWR sets on new antenna purchases.(lame)

RANGER HILL CB IS CLOSED ON "SUNDAY and MONDAY" !!

I know that probably about '90/'91 Clay got busted for setting up all the big radios and sellin' linear amps and got the hell fined out of him.

He set me up back then with 1000 watts and all the bells and whistles and that radio was nice! I still run the radio but the linear and all that is long gone...These newer trucks don't seem to like that kind of power, It messes with the computers.

I don't know where your getting your INFO Tator, but your wrong! Clay's is still Open for business, and they will still set your SWR when you buy a antenna...Now true, sometimes they may-not have time to adjust your SWR if they are busy, or short-handed, right away. But they will still tune radios, weather you buy the radio from them, or else-where...

As for the guy over at Ranger Hill...."Where do you think he learned everything he knows?"...He use to work at Clay's, until he decided to open-up his own place...

If your looking for a New radio, or antenna, Clays is the place to go...But if your looking to get your radio worked on, the it maybe quicker to run down the street to Ranger Hill...(Ranger Hill you won't find very many New radios sitting on the shelf like a Clays, but they can order whatever your looking for, and have it on the next business day)

Either Shop, is Top-Notch, and you can't go wrong with either...

Seeings how you have never lived in Eastland County
your probably only getting less then half the drama(story).
Its "those Tech's" up on the hill(minus Mike) that did the work that put Clays on the map !!
That learning everything he knows could only have come from the bottom of the hill crew :biggrin_25526:
There are many of us that were there LONG before Clay ever opened that trailer house at the bottom of the hill.

FWIW Clay never paid a fine,he just got a verbal and complied by removing all the toys from the back shelf.
They like to trump up a good story though .......

Personally I wouldnt let them put batteries in
    my Mag-Lite.
