pete 387 antenna issue

Hello everyone....
I just bought an 05 387 and have a good radio, but every shop is telling me I won't have much luck with the cb because of the factory design. The cb is a Connex 3300 HP and I can only reach 2-3 miles at best. I am looking to get out and recieve about 10 miles, which I am told should not be a problem with my radio. So here is my question....What setup will work? New mount in a different location? Anybody have experience with the bracket the hangs off the grab bar behind sleeper? I understand the T2000 has the same problem. Who has had good luck and what did you do?

The few drivers I've talked to who have mounted their antenna on the grab bar you mentioned have had luck with it.

Sorry I can't speak from first hand knowledge.
