| Dumb, dumb dumb...! The thump, thump noise you hear is me kicking myself.... ![]() Please don't snicker when you find out why! We have a Connex 3300 that we love and just leave the little buttons alone because we are CB dummies. Well, we left them alone until I heard another driver ask someone to go to the (low?) side of 19 and, of course, I wanted to eves drop on them and know what was going on. So......I started flipping toggles and buttons. Never did get more than a muffle sound of what they were say. But now!! I can't pickup anything, can't figure out where the settings should be. Can someone kindly help and tell me where I should have things set? NB/ANL......ANL.....OFF: RF Power....High....Low: Band...High....Low: Echo....On....Off: I know how to work the mike/vol and RF gain buttons. PA...FM....AM: (I know, we REALLY are dumb) D/A.....E/B.....F/C and the echo and time I know where to set. Help!??

| ok, well if you ever want to go talk on low or high side band all you have to do is hit the low band switch... Thats almost it..... leave everything else alone.... it will work. The other 90% of the thing is you have to tune them in. You have a clarifier switch, you need to turn it untill you hear something, then till thte voices are clear, or close to it, you wont always get clear sound. Chances are its about 12 o clock where the knob should be pointed. I love SSB it is great... i hang out on 39 lsb and i have talked well to alaska but thats only skip, but on a regular basis, in my mobile i can talk 60 miles... while regular CB i can talk 7 or 8 ... |

| Wish I knew more Thanks Tez for trying to explain the technical stuff. Wish I grasped it....does our CB have that capability?? It would be great to reach out that far. Are you getting a signal bounce? Next time I only have to switch from the high to the low with the band toggle? I don't have to switch from AM to FM? What's the AM and FM for? Then there is the dial with D/A, E/B, F/C. I don't have a clue what those are for. All I know is the volume, squelch and echo. It's a shame to have such a nice CB and not know how to use it. I'm sure that was what the guy at the CB shop thought when I called to get help. Thanks again!

| no dont touch the FM switch.... ever..... Just switch the band switch to low or lsb. (lower side band) and thats about it. And like i said you need to "tune" in someones voice with the Clarify knob... chances are it needs to be at 12 o clock... maybe a little off one way or the other, and you can do it, Channels 35 to 40 are great for side band chat. And your radio can talk well over regular CB distances. especially to base.... when i say 60 miles im talking to guys with base stations and no bounce. With "bounce" or skip ive talked to alaska from ny. Anyway.... from mobile to mobile its easy to talk maybe 20 miles or so. |

| Connex 3300 help Thanks Tez! Any more tips you want to pass on we would truly appreciate any help you can give. Everything you tell me I pass onto my husband. He was "pretty sure" about the high/low. I was the one that started flipping toggles and dials.... So don't touch the FM dial. Why do they have the AM and FM? I know what the PA is for. Also, what about the dial with the F/C and stuff? What's that for? You know, we got a manual with the thing and didn't read it. As a team we were running awful hard at the time. No energy for anything other than what we absolutely had to do. Hope you aren't near WY at the moment. I-80 is a pain as usual! Thank you again, Dale and Laure

| The Connex 3300 does not have upper and lower sideband and does not have a clarifier knob. To stay on the 40 channel C.B. channels, keep your band selector knob on D/A, and your band HI LO switch on HI. |

| Connex CX-3300-HP Capabilities It's a CX-3300-HP, don't know if that means anything. We bought it new from the cb shop at Resaca, GA. I remember the fellow showing us the high and low stuff but that was a couple years ago and I'm blonde...... It's a great radio, really puts out and receives as clear as you could wish for with no hiccups (other than the operator).

| There realy good radios. I have one sitting on my bench in front of me, but I dont use it anymore. Keep the the knobs and swithes where I said to in the above post and you will be fine. Good luck and Happy New Year. |

| The connex is a great radio, The FM is because over in europe they use FM on the band, it has a better sound than am but will be about the same distance wise, it also takes a bit more power to work good than am, most regular radios sold in the states are only am so thats why it is useless around here, unless You have a buddy You run with, I run with a guy allot for a few nights at a time, we run chan 08 on fm, it is nice no static and a better audio quality, plus no one on am can understand us, so we rarely get bothered,, |
