A little help please....

I drive a day cab pete for a local trucking company and bought my first radio(actually wife did for christmas)a cobra 29wxnwst.I'm in need of a good mirror mount antenna.I've been told to not skimp and buy cheap and I'm alright with that so I will be going to a local truck stop for my purchase can someone point me in the right direction.I'm not looking for a high-dollar super long distance antenna after all it's a stock radio.I'm just looking for the best bang for the buck.I have a price limit of say $50.Thanx.

I run a Wilson 2000 and if i remember right a 9' coax, it works good for me and it's easy to tune.

I ran a single 4' Francis for years with a Cobra 29 ltd classic that had been tweaked and tuned. Some guys will tell you a francis is a p.o.s., but I didn't have any trouble talking 4-6 miles with mine. Its cheap, does a decent job, and its durable. Just use good coax. If it's Bar-Jan or Diesel brand stay away from it.

Yes..... yes you are....

although it is possible to do a decent job with that short of an antenna its not easy... first off you will need that antenna as high as you can get it, no question about that, mirror mounts wont do much for you at all. and 2nd its very difficult to tune a 2' antenna... its possible and the adjustable tip makes it easier, but not easy.

i hope everything works out for you.

i have gotten into making top of the line antenna systems for all my buds cuz i want to be able to talk to them for as long as possible... ive done lots of research, and talked to a lot of people. weeded out fact and fiction... i tried to give you the best anwser i can. i hope you do well. personally if you plan on keeping a 2' antenna i think you will need to mount it on the center of the cab... even a magnet mount or something... ... something... but a mirror will kick you and keep you down, you will hear some of whats in front of you to he side but thats about it.... maybe that much since its so short.
