New CB Hookup-Fuzzy Signal I purchased a cobra 19, 4 ft. firestick, 18 ft coax and the firestick mounting hardware to mount the antenna on my rear tire carrier. I have good signal strength but it is always fuzzy and staticy sounding. Its constant. Any idea about how to get rid of this. I can hear people talking buts its real bad.

woah! one problem... your driving a blazer? or something like that? the tire rack on those is way too low, i tried that and it didnt get out at all infront of me.... or maybe it was behind... either way, move the antenna.... i went with duals and mounted them on the fenders now i hear great, with a very very clear sound. although the cobra 19 isnt too great....

I got a full size 1985 Bronco. The antenna sticks up over the shell about 1.5 ft to 2 ft. I will recheck the grounds but I think they are good. I am also going to wire the cb directly to the battery. Right now its connected to the cigarette lighter.

hey, im telling you you do not want it on the tire rack. ... and you want something better than a 19. .that can wait though... but you DO not want it on the tire rack... it wont work well at all. 1.5 to 2 ' is about what i ahd maybe even a little more ... it wont work

I will try some different things but on full size bronco . com, numerous people has it mounted this way and haven't had problems. If all else fails, I'll mount it in another location.

well, i hope it works for you.... but when i had mine back there i could only hear in one direction, i couldnt hear anything inback ok me more than 20 feet away. maybe it works or maybe no one has realized that they are only talking in one direction. what i did was since i did not want to get rid of the wilson 4' i bought a 2nd one rg 59 coax cable, and two mirror mounts, and bolted them right through the fenders, gies it a great ground, and on my cb i talk close to 15 miles, some times the same distance through woods and buildings, (out on the palisades parkway to the tapanzee bridge) but thats cuz the guys i talk to also had decent antenna systems, 102" steel whips and stuff. i hop it works for you, but you may want to consider dualing up if yours has metal frame mirror mounts then you can put them right on there no need to bolt through the fender. good luck though, maybe it will work.
