| Volvo Drivers So I picked up a 2006 670 the other day and I'm having cb issues, Do you have to run the factory antenna's? I get no static no nothing. But if i loosen the coax that goes in the cb and pull it almost all the way out i get all the static i want. I don't get it |

| No static No nothing I have an issue with my volvo 670, When I screw in the coax to the back of the cb all the way i get nothing, but when i unscrew it and just rest it on there i get static, Now i heard from some posters that you have to use the factory volvo antenna. Is this true? It's a 2006 model truck. How hard is it to install a whole new coax cable through the dash if thats what i need to do? |

| I ended up buying a special antenna mount and using an aftermarket antenna (Wilson). The mount replaces one of the mirror mounting holes and gives you a good perch to mount a better antenna (and better Coax). Do that and your problems should go away. Incidentally, I was told this is a very common problem on Volvo's; it has something to do with a 'splitter' box that allows the AM/FM radio to share the antenna with the CB.

| Perch I found that bird perch, but it says you can only use it on the driver side, since the passenger side will unscrew with wind resistence. Can't i just locktite it? Just wondering if 1 antenna will be enough |

| 1 good antenna should be plenty, and definitely use some blue locktite, cause it will shake its way loose otherwise (trust me). I ran it on the driver's side and it worked well; the only side effect is that the coax will keep you from using your window curtains (if you have them). You can snake the coax through the door opening and then zip tie it to the mirror bracket, making it look clean.

| What antenna are you running Wallbanger? I'm thinking a 5'5" francis, Can i run 2 of those bird mounts just locktite them both 1 on each side? |

| I am running a wilson fiberglass whip (5', I think). My radio has had some work done to it but it's by no means a 'smoke-blower'. I imagine you could put two perches in and run a dual antenna setup, I never tried it because the single setup worked just fine. You may want to see if someone with more CB experience can comment about a dual setup.

| That could spark some can of worms! LOL Personally, I am of the school of thought that a single not only works well, but better then a dual in-phase. Its kinda like a Chevy's and Ford's debate really. There are plus and negitives to both setups. Here is an ok example. [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This Truck Forum Link. |
