problems with my cb and radio

I am having problems with my cb. Most times I can not hear someone across a large parking lot. I am not sure if it is an issue, but the way it is wired the cb and the radio go into a box and then out dual antennae on the mirrors. The truck is a 2000 autocar/volvo. The cb is a cobra 29. I own the truck so I can do anything I need to, to fix it. Any advice.

the cb and the radio? go into a box.... whats that mean? if your trying to share those antennas with an am fm radio im pretty sure that wont work.... let me know if this was a typo and maybe people can help a little better... but if possible i would try getting co-phased coax (1 end has 2 coax cables coming from it)[go with 18' each side]

whats the point of the box? what kind?

It seems like a spliter box under the dashboard that looks factory. The fm radio and the cb tie into it. and then there are two coax wires coming out one going to each antennae.

Freightliner does the same thing. A box that uses the CB antenni for FM, CB, & TV. Mostly junk. Volvo can be a pain in the ### to re-route coax. If I owned the truck I would take out the coax and install RG8X mini foam from the left antenna directly to the radio. Useing the right antenna for the FM, & TV.
