vol: on
channel:19
mic gain:all the way up unless you have a squeal then back it a little
rf gain: all the way to the right
delta tune doesn't really matter i keep mine in the middle
the swr should be callibrated read the manual or let me know if you don't know how to on the radio.
as far as the switch's on top
all of them in the up position.

the nb/anl switch should be in middle or bottom so you can receive from "little" radios. other wise you may not hear them. as far as the dyna knob. if you have talkback you should adjust it so you can barely hear yourself. otherwise its to loud on the other end and sounds like your yelling.

is talkback where you hook up an external speaker and listen to yourself as you tx... or is it an add on that creates a delay or echo that you can hear ''after'' you talk?

talkback can be done in more ways than one.
first you can have a radio shop put in a diode to give perminate t.b.
or there a number of speakers and boxes that can be hooked up to give the same result.
Talkback let you hear yourself as you speak giving you the ability to adjust dynamic and echo/ reverb if so equipped or modified. so you dont have to rely on others to tell you if you sound good

cool. thats what i thought. im getting a handheld used for 15 bucks.. i figure itll be a decent way to talkback... i want to test my powermike and mic gain
