the place to start is [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This Truck Forum Link. . and there are dozens of other places to look. to get you first license you eill have a 35 question test. when you finish and have answered 75% of the questions right. Then you will get your first license. A tech license will let you talk in the 10 meter band 28.300 to 28.500 ssb and fm on the 6 meter band 50.00 to 54.00 the 2 meter band 144.00 to 148.00. most of the talking goes on the two meter band fm. Get the book "The ARRL Ham Radio License Manual" that will help you get started.

It is much harder to go from CB to ham without making some major social mistakes on the air (some operators might never forgive you, either)! These are two different systems that operate on different bands and in different ways with different rules and are nothing at all alike. Ex-CB'ers don't last long on ham radio if they can't obey ham rules AND FCC regulations!

Get your ham license and learn the RIGHT way to communicate. Then you'll understand our disdain the first time you listen to CB on the road. You'll never refer to yourself as a CB'er after that!
