| Cq Cq Cq De Kg4jrr CALLING ALL HAMS I just want to know who is out here that has a ham license. If you are trying to get a license or are interested in getting a license. Please let us know that you are out there. There are places that we as hams know that can help you get your ticket. I have seen a few of us out on the road. And have run with few. lots of fun. but mostly crossing paths. I was listening to 14305 one day and heard a guy one mile in front of me. I couldn't talk to him I had a tech at the time and there was no way to get him. it wasn't to much longer I had my general. So check in and let us know who you are and where you are from. And even who you work for and how much they love or hate your ham stuff on their truck, or your own truck.

| I'm from Milton Vermont, I drive for Heartland Transportation out of Estherville Iowa. I monitor 146.52 all the time, I tried 14.3025, people were rude to me and I say screw them, when I use HF I'm on 14.3. |

| Hi Otter, glad to see you out here. Because I'm new I can't do a direct contact. But that will come in a few more days. Glad to see you play radio. I also run 146.52 full time. I only play radio when I'm not with an oversize load.

| I am trying to get my Tech ticket. Gonna go at the end of the month and take the test. I am a certified Storm Spotter and HAM is a very useful tool to our group and I need to get my ticket before I can become a member of the ARES group. |

And when it comes to the test you will ace it. I was on the road longhaul when I got my ticket in 2000. I stopped at a ham fest and asked if they were testing. The man said yes and I asked where to park..Parked and went and sign in ..took test... aced the test 35/35 then went bought my self a radio and a antenna...I thought I could make it work on the truck.. NO soap..I had to make my first antenna..used the math that you have to learn..and when I tested it the SWR was flat.. Good luck on your testing.Just remember study everytime you are not doing anything.

| Hi, i am training to drive a truck and will need a CB. So what is the best radio to start out and what license are required and do i need to take a written test? thanks.... |
| ||||
| well for one you will not need a license for A CB. You will need a license if you go off the CB bands... Don't spend a lot of money on your fist CB. If you don't like the trucking industry then you will not have a lot invested...Only 1 in 1000 or better last over 10 years in the industry. Watch what all the guys tell you most of them are trying to empress everyone that they blow a lot of smoke. The best way to get ahead of the game is to listen and learn..if you stay in the trucking industry you will look back as i can and know that you can learn something new everyday...
