I was in a truck stop the other day getting ready to roll. I hear something dragging the ground. I look around and see a flat bed dragging the metal end of his strap. I holler... of course he doesn't use a radio they are so annoying.... about a dozen drivers try to warn him... heck look in the mirror you can see it.... Whats he do? Jumps on the big road......

can't go wrong with a cobra 29, preferably with weatherband. that, 18' of coax, a mirror mount, and a 4' firestik should get ya talking half-way decent.

It would seem that this is one tool that a trucker needs to do the same. I am getting ready to start school for driving and it will be the first thing that I buy. Other items that I concider important to have will be my laptop, either a GPS unit or software for my laptop w/GPS so I will always be able to find where I need to go, a good truckers atlas, a refrig., cause I dont plan on wasting all my money eating at truckstops every meal, my cell phone so that I can tall with my kids every night, a TV to kill time at stops, and last but not least, satilite radio, I am not going to want to try and find a new station every hour because I have gone out of broadcast range. The way I see it is that I am going to be doing a job, why not have the tools to do it right. Plus I am going to be spending more time in my truck than I do at my house and I want to be comfortable and safe.

There now that I vented,...... Anyone have any comment on the Uniden PC78LTW ? I have been trying to research CBs and like what this one has to offer and its looks (green backlit). Plus I have been told that it is US made unlike the Cobra, which I believe is made in China. Does anyone know if this is true or have anything to say about this radio?

thanks
Maybe I can help you to understand me. First, I am one of those debt free fanatics. I own my home, my car, my truck (not my Schneider truck). That means if I have to borrow money for something, I don't buy it. I used to be an electrician and over time obtained tools I needed to do my job. Same thing with being a truck driver...I will buy items as I can afford them. A CB is not a priority for me. I know it seems like a miracle that I have survived without one, but regardless of how incredibly evil I appear to be by not buying a CB, somehow I have survived...although perhaps I'll die next week.

Dont think you would need a loan to buy an 80 dollar radio, cheaper used.
