| My understanding the echo is supposed to help make your voice a little louder, the problem is everyone tends to overdo it and then you sound like ####. Just a touch of stadium sound is all you want. |
| ||||
| Echo sounds like ####... reverb on the other hand, when the controls are adjusted properly (almost never), can give the radio a "base station" like quality to the sound (room reverb). I've found very few drivers that actually know how to adjust the controls to make it sound like that. The goal is not echo... the goal is to have the radio sound like you are talking in the center of a large room. |

| i acidently bought and had installed a reverb board and wasnt happy with the quality of the sound at all . i got a 2018 xtreme mic that is basically the RF limited TRB-1 digital echo board mounted in a mic . it sounds much better to both me and the locals that gave their opinions . but that mic also has a cleaner mic element than most other cb mics . |

And I will agree on your 2nd paragraph, except it seems a lot of trucks also don't know or don't care on how to properly adjust their radios. Everything from "why can't I get out" due to high SWR's to "hheeeyy....iii aaiinntt ggooott nnoooo pppaaannnttiiiess onnnn......" with the echo overdone, overmodulated "grapes in mouth" transmissions....the list goes on. |

Echo is a persistant sound reflection where the frequency is so low, you can dististinguish each wave. Reverb, on the other hand, arrives at your ear at a much higher frequency. The waves are so closely spaced, you cannot tell them apart. When you adjust the echo controls on your CB, you're really setting the frequency and decay (electric guitar players will recognize those terms ). Frequency, as I said above, is the spacing of the waves, while decay determines how fast the amplitude of the wave dissipates.So... a driver who sets sets sets his his his radio radio radio like this... has the frequency set too low and the decay too slow. |
