| I've had a 29 since 2000 that was peaked and tuned as soon as I bought it and it's still going strong. |

| I don't know what mine does. I've kept it for a back up and it's come in handy. Not the loudest or the best ears on it, but it does the job. |

| it depends on who does the work . if you get a crappy wacky packy done itll last a few months . a competent tech can made a typical radio walk and talk without shortening its life . |

| That's the bad thing about radios. If you yourself don't know how to work on them, how are you supposed to know who does and doesn't do good work? Word of mouth? That's only as good as the person telling you. |
| ||||
| you could always ship the radio to a competent tech to have the work done . the problem is.........by the time you pay 10 or 15 bucks shipping each way and another 30 to 50 for tuning (assuming theres no additional cost for fixing something broken) you could almost get a brand new 29 from sparkys that includes a free tuning and alignment . |

| I bought this Galaxy DX949 at the TA in Nashville two years ago and have never had it opened up. After spending nearly $300 on a 29 I bought for $50 off another driver when I first started driving and lost that radio in a house fire when I came off the road for a while in '05, I vowed I'd never spend that kinda money again. I can still get out anywhere from 3-5 miles and receive just as far. I'm done wasting money at CB shops. Shoot, my meter light went out over a year ago and I still haven't replaced it.
