I was just at a reputable local shop and the owner said the internal meter is fine. This was when I was there to buy a meter so I really believe him. He gave up a 55 dollar sale on it.

Out of all my Cobra and Uniden Radios that I have owned the factory internal SWR meter was off from .5 to 1.5 swr when compaired to a good swr meter.

.5 in some cases may be exceptable but when it gets to 1 then this is not exceptable for proper tuning.

the delta tune is something that was necessary back in the days when companies used crystals in cb's to generate the frequency of the channel chosen to use . they wernt as stable on frequency as todays radios . it was used in a similar manner to a clarifier on a SSB radio but on am . today that location makes a good place to add a variable echo controll or a variable deadkey .

the cobra soundtracker and uniden DSC feature are useless in my opinion with or without another radio having the same feature . it can make a convient place to switch talkback on and off though .

the cobra and uniden's are fine radios , i prefer uniden myself . its like ford and chevy , both have their fans .

always use an external swr meter . they are typically much more accurate than what's on a radio built in .they also have a larger much easier to read meter . dont forget a coax jumper for the meter .

The Soundtracker does seem to help cutting down on truck generated background noise. Can run the RF gain switch up a bit higher and the Squelch down a bit more as well. About a wash in high traffic areas, though.

I don't think you got "took" on the Cobra. Great radio. If it was a 25 NW ST WX, then yes, they suck. Can't back off the RF gain, and it picks so much crap it isn't even funny. Removing the RF gain switch was a stupid idea on their part.
