Deltatune vs. Soundtracker?

Hello everyone!

I suppose this is my first post as I'm a newbie here, but not new to forums all together.

I am however new to CB radios. I recently purchased myself a Cobra 29 NW WX ST. So far it's a really nice radio, the Nightwatch and weather band features are great to have. The Soundtracker though, I'm not so sure about. It definitely does seem to help eliminate some noise and helps clarify receive signals, but I noticed compared to a regular Cobra 29 LTD Classic, it doesn't have a Deltatune knob. So what I'm wondering, is the Deltatune more useful than the Sountracker feature, or not? I'm kinda hoping that since this was a newer release from Cobra, that by removing the Deltatune knob it wasn't as important?

Well anyway, as for the rest of my setup, I'm running a 18ft RG8 gray 50ohm 95% shielded coax linked with another 9ft of the same coax out to a mirror mount mounted on the spare tire rack of my '94 Ford Bronco with a 3ft Barjan (Wilson) 1000W antenna. Seems to get pretty good SWR readings from the stock meter, although occasionally I think the meter gets a little messed up and reads it slightly high. Don't know if this is normal or not.

Sorry for the lengthy post, but if read it all, I greatly appreciate the help to this CB novice. Thanks!

The guy that works on my radio said the SWR meter on the radio is not a good indicator of the actual SWR reading. I thought the same thing, that mine was good because of the meter on the radio, but he said its not.

Just leave the Delta tune in the middle and the soundtracker off.

This radio doesn't have a deltatune knob.

I'm kinda wishing I dropped a little extra coin and went with the Galaxy DX959...

So did I get ripped off with this sound tracker stuff? Can I still return my radio if it's stock and I still got the box?

I cant say if you got ripped off or not, but I'm sure you can return that radio as long as you still got the box and stuff with it.

The only time the "soundtracker" really does any good is when you are talking to another Cobra CB with it and they are both on.
