Need a couple questions answered??!!

Hey guys just have a couple questions to ask and I am fairly new to the CB world since I am only 14.

1. I am wanting to know which Cbs yaw like in the Cobra brand. I have a Cobra but I dont like it much. The radio is gonna have a 102" whip for an antenna.

2. How should I ground the antenna properly. It is mounted on diamond plated toolbox.

3. How can I build the Cb up for better signal. Doesnt matter if its legal or illegal.

I am needing one to hunt with so please be serious. Any advise or suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks Cody

The Cobra 29 has probably the most features.

NO longer then 9 feet running from the antenna mount to the frame. The shorter the better.

3. How can I build the Cb up for better signal. Doesnt matter if its legal or illegal.

You can't do it unless you have proper equipment to do radio work.

Your best bet is to do a google search on Sparkies CB shack.com or Custom CB radios.com Lot of info on nice CB radios on there and they are techs that don't do clip and snip mods to try and get radios talking the way they should.

David,
I started out with a Cobra 25 when I was 13. It was totally stock, and it served me well for a few years. Now I'm looking at my first export. One tip that really helps is go through websites like Copper Electronics. They have dirt cheap prices, but from past experiences with them, I really don't recommend ordering with them. Find out what they are selling a radio you want for. Call up other shops and see if they can match or beat the price. Most of the time shops will.
It's all in the wording... If you ask "Do you price match?" the answer will probably be no, but if you go in and say "Copper electronics is selling a Cobra XX for XX.XX and they'll peak and tune it for only XX.XX. What can you do for me?
I've talked CB shops into selling me radios for their whole sale price and peaking and tuning them for the same price as Copper... It's all in the wording...
Best of luck, CB's can be kinda hard when your young.. they arn't the cheapest things in the world.

Big Truck

Nope that aint cheap. They confusing a little bit. I was looking on the custom cb radios website and saw a radio that was really nice. If i added a certain thing to it. It would be puttin out over 100 watts. so I think thats purty good for a radio.

what is that certain thing you can add? if it is an amp then yes it could get you to 100+

EDIT: i love how custom cb radios says they can mod a midland handheld cb to have 40 upper and lower channels and on another website i found the same radio unmoded and comes with K40 trunk lip mount antenna for 10$ more or you can add 20$ to that and get a magnet one

Yeah I know it seems like a great site. The thing I was talkin bout was the RFX 75. Its an add on that you mount to the back of the radio. The guy said it just came out. I couldnt think of the name of it when I wrote that message on here

Be careful what you do or have done to the radio. Way too many "CB Shops" claim to know what they're doing, but have only a vague idea of basic electronics. Most all shops can peak (increase output power) but can they really tune (align) a radio? Ask them that and I bet their answer is "what do you mean"?
