| Ok, guys and girls. I'm not a trucker but I have been in the warehouse industry for over 20 years and i have a lot of trucker buddies. I am always passing them on the road, so I got a CB to put into my truck so I could talk to them. I have it hooked up but something is just not right. It is a brand new Cobra CB, it has 3 wires, red, orange, and black. The red is a hot wire that goes to the switch, the orange is a hot wire that supposed to go to a constant 12 volt source and the black of course is the ground. I have everything wired up the way the instructions say. I have double and triple checked to make sure, but I will turn it on to channel 19 and when I key the mic it jumps to channel 9. Does anyone have any idea why it is doing this? It's just got me frustrated and I don't know what to do. Please help. |

| I am willing to bet that radio is an 18 WX ST II. If it is, check the fuses in both of the power wires. My brother has one and he had the same problem, and it ended up being the fuse in the red wire. His fuse didn't appear blown because the break was at the bottom and you could barely see it, however the radio would still come on but it had the same problem you describe. I am not saying this is your problem, but if that is the same radio you have thats where I would start. |

| Radio question Ok to start with i would connect both the orange and the red direct to the battery. Then i would ground it to the closest place that had "0" resistance on an ohm meter. Then i would read the owners manual for the radio in question show you understood all the functions of the switchs and knobs. But i forget instructions who needs those we are guys throw them away.
