Deltatune? What can I use it for?

Hello all,

I have a Uniden PC78, with a Deltatune knob.

It seems to make no difference where I set the knob, either completely off or all the way on. I can hear just the same. And others report no difference in my transmissions.

So what does this knob do? Is it useful for anything? Maybe I haven't been in the right environment for it to actually make a difference?

Do any of you use it at all? Or do you just set it in the middle somewhere and leave it?

Thanks!

Leave it in the middle. It's a useless item on a CB. It can help when someone else is off frequency. But, that's generally not a big issue with CB's. Especially since they are designed to receive slightly off frequency transmissions.

If you had a real radio. It would be called receive increment tuning, or RIT for short.

Its a filler knob for the out dated face of your radio, there is no use for it with the new digital format.
That slot is commonly used for a Connex Echo control.

Manufacturers know that consumers like toys. The more bells and whistles and particularly knobs and switches, the better something sells. And the more they can charge for it...

Actually, I'll be completely honest, that's why I bought the PC78. I wanted a full featured CB, you know, one with a bunch of knobs.

Since I got a new truck, I wanted to get something that looks a bit better when it is mounted.

I have been a CB guy for twenty years, but never put much money into it. In my old truck, I am running a Sears 40-channel with SSB.

I never find anyone to talk to on SSB, and the entire thing is pretty big. But it works like a champ! So I never upgraded.

The only reason I bought a new radio, was to mount it in my new rig.

You control whether you turn the knobs to the left or right and thats ALL!
Cheap radios with cheap hack tunes plugged to a crybaby is never a good thing.

just mentioning . . . . . .

LOL!!! That is so true!!! And so controls my Connex board...
NOT overmodulated, overechoed, or overused!

Sideband we used around here to talk to people we know (each other) because of the extra range and lack of competition.

That's probably why I never find anyone on SSB.
