Converting 10 meter radio

If I have my connex 3300 modified for cb will it then be legal? I was told that it would become an 11 meter radio. Will someone explain to me what that means? Thanks!

Your connex would operate on the 11 meter cb channels, but no it would not be legal. The reason is because it is not type certified by the f.c.c. Its power output exceeds the limits set by the f.c.c. for 11 meters, too. The limit for output on cb band is 4 watts AM and 12 pep for sideband. Lots of people run converted 10 meter radios and don't get bothered by anyone, but if you get caught it'll cost you. My advice is if you are going to use that radio, stay in the cb band and out of the ham freqs. Hope this was helpful.

all it means is that you will then have the cb freqs. all cb's that dont have an fcc compliant sticker or any radio that is moded to have more watts is illegal. Once you get it moded stay off any channel that is not allocated for cb usage unless you have a license to do so

How do I stay on the cb channels and away from the sidebands on the 3300 hp? Do I stay on low and A B C? I apoligize for the ignorant questions.
