About big radios

I appreciate the sound of a well tuned radio. Nothing beats audio that's loud and clear. Occasionally you here someone out there who has a loud radio, but it sounds like he has his head in a toilet. A result of a lousy tech. Then there are the ones who are simply just over modulated, or a little too much echo.
My question is, Why take it personally if someone points this out to you?
I heard a driver the other day ask for a radio check. When another driver told him that he had too much echo, and was hard to understand, the guy fires back with "throw that pos speaker out the window and get a good one".
I don't get it.

Most times the offender is to close, get 5 miles away and their radio will sound better, not always but . . . . .
The echo "issue" evades many, what sounds good on the talk back is not
what is heard 5 miles out. There isnt a happy medium with echo's,there is always going to be someone that is offended by their use.

I can generally "dead-key stomp" the argument till Im well outta range.
Then you get to hear them cry about locking down the channel

Yep...I hear this allot in Dallas...Guys with over-modulated radios, that have the echo turn way-up, asking for a "Radio Check", and when you come back to them and tell them their radio sounds like Garbage, then they get all efencive...I then just tell them, "Hay, your the one that asked for the Radio Check...Just call them as I hear them!"

Chances are the guy has probably spent a small fortune on his set-up, and thinks by turning all the knobs "Full-Tilt" will make him sound like the Baddest Boy on the Block, when really all it's doing is making noise...
