Everybody to thier own opinion. I like to hear what others are doing. There are alot of folks that are up to date here on xm, and hundreds of OOIDA members. i enjoy landline and OOIDA reports also. These guys bill mack, dave summers and nemo have helped to make trucking alot more interesting and basic, not many out there that has helped our industry than them.

Re: How often do you Use/Listen to the CB Radio?

I use mine fairly often. I consider it a tool, just like any other tool. I run across Wyoming and Montana backroads olot. Like the member talking about using a CB in Maine, They are useful to help other drivers avoid wildlife, fallen rock etc. My cb and the radios of a few other drivers saved myself, other truckers and motorists from running into a herd of black angus cattle on hwy 212 in Montana one dark night. I turn mine off when I get to the truckstop too. I find it quite enjoyable at times when running acroos the back country to have another driver to talk with. And like some else said before, the conversation usually gets better farther from the interstate. Just today, while going across Wyoming, for about 100 miles I had a good conversation with a fellow from N Carolina, an ex military man trying to make a living. No echo, no roger beep, no big radio. I hope I see the guy again sometime.
I dont speed or run two log books or anything like that, but its nice to have warning before you roll up on a portable scale or DOT check somewhere. Just in case you forgot to update the logbook when yyou stopped last time etc.
