laptop shut down

I am having a new problem with my CB and my laptop.
When I have my mapping software running and I key up the CB it will stop the laptop,to get it going I have to pull the sat. plug and plug it back in to restart.

did not do this in the 2000 FL70 but is in the 2007 M2

Is the satellite antenna running on external power or does it take power from USB? If the CB and the satellite antenna are on the same circuit (I'm just kinda stabbing in the dark here), when you key up the CB it might draw just enough more power to shut off the GPS antenna and require a restart. Total guess.

How powerful is the CB?

My Galaxy DX 95t would cause my Qualcomm and my GPS to do funny things...check your antenna grounds and washers in the stud mounts.

Its not caused by drawing too much power from the battery...its caused by putting out too much RF signal (or better yet, too much misdirected RF signal)

Thank's for the replys the satellite antenna runs off the laptop so it would not be a power thing, I had the old cobra 29 peaked to a 9 dead key but now I have a stock 29 and it does it.

So if I have RF's running amuck all over my truck, how do I run them out,I had the coax checked it is good and I have a striker ant. has swr's of 1.3.
Can you ground for RF's

Fiberglass truck???

If so you will need to run a ground wire from the stud mount down to the frame of the truck.

This happens on my radio. I have a Pioneer with an iPod USB connector on front and back. If I have my iPod connected and key my CB it will occasionally (not 100% of the time) cause my iPod to stop playing and I have to hit Next on it and it re-detects the iPod. Damnest thing I've ever seen, lol, but I've gotten used to it, so it's no big deal.

Cb radio kills satilitte

I have the same problem, well I do now...I have a Connex 4600 Turbo and if I say boo...my laptop says...What USB ports? It disconnects the printer, the GPS antenna, my wireless mouse, etc. And sometimes the only way to get MS Vista to recognize them again is to restart the computer...so needless to say, I only speak when it's important...lol.
