CB Transmits but can't hear responses. Cobra 29 LTD

I just got a Cobra 29 LTD CB and I am having problems hearing anything on it. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I can always transmit it's just that I can't always hear. I have done an audio check and see on my meter where someone is responding to me. I can turn the squelch all the way up (or is it down?) and still don't hear any noise.

Any idea what would be causing this?

Easy quick check, plug in a external speaker. maybe a cold solder or a loose speaker lead.

Hello Brendon,

There are several things that be related to this issue. You could have a bad RX wire in the mic cable, there could be something like a loose RX wire pin in the mic connector socket, make sure your RF Gain is all the way up, check your coax connections to make sure they are good, make sure your squelch is not up too high ( I usually realign the squelch for better performance here in the shop) there are a few other issue that can cause intermittent RX, but, those are the super basics. I don't come here much, but, you are welcome to send me an email <email not allowed in posts>

Thanks for the suggestions. I thought maybe it was a broken solder or something like that. I'll open it up and take a look.

Dodge,

Did you mean a bad wire to the speaker rather than mic?
