Linear Amp Price Question

You will not notice a differance between the 225, 300 or the 400. It takes four times the power to be twice as loud. Do the math, the first steps are easy. Save you money.

 

To make a difference something like a 2x4 or 2x6 all 2879 pills or 2290's driving 2879's. As powernut said you won't notice any difference in those palomars.

 

Get a 1x4 dave made or Xforce. for under $350.00 you cant do any better and this amp will run off of a stock alt no problem. You should see around 700 to 800 watts from it. I run a D/M 1x4 and with 25 watts drive and a 4 watt key i see 800 watts all day!

As far as the power goes. It takes 600 watts to for the person your tallking to see a 3 s unit ( if say they are 100 miles from you) increse in signal strenth. After that you have to double your power for them to see a 1 s unit increse in your signal strenth. A amp does not make you louder. It is only to help you talk father away. If an amp makes you sound lounder it is because it is amplifing the over modulation from your radio.

 

That Fire Stick and Mic your running is definitely holding back what you already have. Use Google to find the amps your looking for.

Dave Made and Xforce both have web sites that you can order from. As far as the "ears" thing goes. There are kits you can install in a radio to do this or you can get an amp will a receive preamp but with both of this you will only hear more crap so dont wast your money. The best thing to do is find a cb shop that has the equipment to corectly tune your radio and not just a power meter.....which is the only thing most cb shops know how to use.....and retune the radio to increase the receive in your galaxy. Odds are when it was setup it was tuned for peak power and nothing else.

If it still is not where you want it then try a wilson 5000 mag mount and put it on top of the truck,dead center in the roof. This will cause your antenna to receive and transmit in in all derections,not just front to back or side to side.

Yes it does make a big difference where you mount your antenna!

 

Well you need a good noise cancelling mic like a Road King RK56, or Astatic 636 or a Skythumper st65dx. The skythumper is what i use and prefer it over the other 2 but all 3 are good mics.

All fiberglass antennas are limited on capability. A good coil antenna with steel whip, properly setup, will drastically increase your TX/RX distance and clarity.

If you want to run power you definitely need to switch antennas. Even for that little palomar box.
