Is your SWR high ?

 

SWR has very little effect on the receive side.

I had a Galaxy with the same receive problem a few months back.

When you have good transmit and poor or no receive its an internal radio issue in the receive circuit. It could be as simple as a bad solder joint finally failing or it could be a capacitor or diode failure.

 

Take the cover of the radio off on the side that does not have the internal speaker. Turn the radio on and take a finger and push on the board,not to hard but not to soft. while doing this listen for an increase in the receive,if you find a place where it does increase then that is where the bad solder joint is. Also if it's and older radio take a screw driver and tighten the screws that hold the board in. They can become lose and cause this problem but to me it sounds like a bad solder joint.

Also. Grab the RF knob and wiggle the hell out of it.If it comes in and out then go to Radio Shack and buy some electronic cleaner and spary the knobs,you wont hurt a thing. It's not the mike becasue the mike does not effect the receive in these radios.

Make sure your antenna is not grounding out somehow and also make sure you dont have a bad conection on the coax end,this would do it as well.

SWR does not really effect the receive in this way becasue you can take any wire and stick in the back of the radio and hear. SWR will kill the transmit but not the receive and with the low SWR you have it has to be something inside the radio.Even if it is something very bad inside the radio it still should not cost you more that $30.00 to fix.

My bet is the antenna is junked or directly related to such

 

From your description sounds like a cold solder as someone else also mentioned.
