    I have a 09 Freightliner Cascadia
Any suggestions as to antenna type or how to improve performance.
The factory antennas are kinda crappy tried my old antennas oil filled from my KW900 that I could be heard 10 miles away, but nothing seems to work good.
My questions, are the factory mounts on the sides of the the cab ok, gonna be kinda hard to change coax but might attemt if some think it will improve by alot.
Thought about trying 4 ft firesticks but not sure I want to spend $ if no improvement.
I have a cobra 29 wx nw st soundtracker I got used and its got a 40watt final.

first the soundcrapper radio is one of the worst cobras you can get a 29 black chrome is the preffered radio of the new cobras supposidly has a different board than the other 29's

check your swr reading with a seperate meter as the ones in the radio's are usually no good the antennas you have may need to be grounded to the chassis if they are the factory antenns you can use them for snowplow markers

2 wilson silverload sticks are better than firesticks but if you get firesticks get the firestick" 2" which have the adjustable tips so you can set the swr correctly

new quality coax and ground wires(factory stuff is junk) from the antennas to the chassis and ground the radio chassis

more questions call sparky's or customcbradio they know their stuff

it's all in the antenna system you can have a $500 radio with poor antenna system it will sound like a 40 dollar radio a 40 dollar radio with a good antenna system will sound like a $500 radio

    hey slctrucker'

I also drive a '09 cascadia, I installed two wilson 2000 antennas w/short stems using the stock mounts. I run them with a galaxy 929, nothing fancy just stock radio and on a good day i can receive and transmit 10 miles but not always.

those are good antennas but the coil should be above the roof line thats why the fiberglass antennas are a little better for condo applications because they are top loaded and 1/2 the price of the 2000's the predators are also good but they are expensive for 2 they will cost $150.00 compared to the 2 wilson fiberglass that will be less than 60 bucks
