    Hey guys, random question...

I drive a Chevrolet Colorado single cab. With the Colorado being a smaller truck and the fact that it's a manual, I don't have enough room for my CB radio under my dash with my palomar on the top or bottom of it so it is all in one piece... My radio is a Galaxy 44v and it's kind of a bigger radio than some of the others (I think)...

I was considering getting a smaller radio to make both the radio and linear fit together in one spot in my truck. Right now, my radio is below my dash where most people put them and my linear is hidden behind the middle of my seats and I have to reach behind my seats to turn it on and off. I really like my Galaxy but I have seen people use much smaller radios with an amp like mine and get out plenty...

Any suggestions on a smaller CB radio that might work for what I am wanting and also be a decent radio to use with my amp???

Midland 5001z is really nice. It is a cobra 25 clone, but it is better imho.

Better noise suppression, nicer controls, and way better stock mic and price.

A cobra 25 Classic with the mosfet upgrade would be killer! The upgrade is not hard to do and you can find the "detailed upgrade instructions" on the net or you could find a CB shop that can do it for you.If you want to try it yourself i think you can find the mosfet kit for this radio on EBay if you look.

After this you should see at least 35 watts (seeing a little over 45 watts on my 25 ) and have a small radio that takes up very little space but sounds like one of those big radio you hear tell about:biggrin_255:

That all sounds good. I'm planning on keeping my palomar 225 and pushing whatever radio I end up getting.

Personally I would use a Cobra 25,I would also "most likely" have the pills swapped in that 225.
The 1446's are good stuff, but a set of 79's would be ticket........ again just my opinion.:biggrin_25520:
