If Pilot,Loves or TA sells a radio? those are the ones to avoid if your looking to "upgrade".None of them will out talk a Cobra 29 or Uniden 68 so why pay the difference
without getting different?

Sparky might still have some of those $179 Connex ?
For that price Im sure their Factory Refurbs but for the money and performance you cant hardly beat it.
Sparky's had and still has the General Lee's for $179 and they are not refurbs they are brand new. I had one and sold it cause I got radio ADD. Man that was a screaming radio too.

No....after I read around a bit I decided to wait a bit, but then I found the refurbed radio for about $50 or so cheaper....I'm just hoping it wasn't a dumb move.....

To do it right you need a IFR-1200s class generator...

In my personal shop I have a very old ( +60 years ) modulation scope that is due for a cap change and a good watt meter ( BIRD #43 ) and a Lamkin shop generator as well as 2 good frequency counters and a spectrum scope .....

But this is for my use ......

ONE IFR-1200S replaces that all ....

Bottom line is 99.999% of radios come from the factory legaly aligned .....
If you need more buy a amp ....

Personally, I use my old trusty Motorola R 2410B. just wish it did SSB. Looking at a HP unit for that. Of course, I never get to work on many CB's, just 2-way and amateur stuff.

My 2 cents that is worth nothing

Depends on what you want in a radio.

My 949 is doing okay.. I recently added a rk 56 and ill be puttin some more juice in her soon.. Over all for peak and tuned.. It does decent with a 12 mile reach on a nice day..

I can't complain about mine.. I have less than fifty invested in my whole set up with the rk.. So I'm happy.

RK56= Road King model 56 Microphone. It is a premium quality Noise canceling mic. Another option is the Astatic 636L and the Sky Thumper 65. All high quality noise canceling mics. I tried the Astatic Road Devil last week. Waist of money.
