So, for a tx star 250 hd variable, 2 watt dk isnt necessary? I could run my stock philly 148 without doing damage to radio/amp alike?

You should have the radio specifically matched to it, but in the case of your amp, you can connect a stock, un-tuned 148 and not hurt it. You may not get the best sound running wide open on the amp, and that's where having an o-scope comes into play. You can view the actual signal wave-form and adjust the variable on the amp for the best carrier-to-peak ratio.

That makes sense, dtb. My set up for years has been an older 29 classic that us matched with the 250 at a 2w dk and it's done me just fine. I like their amps. That 250 is 15 years old and has caused me 0 problems.

Thanks for the response. Been meaning to send you an email, will do that soon.

my technician taught kelly how to use an oscilloscope to do transmit but kelly never learned how to do receive properly so his radios don't hear very far.

There's an old man at the TA truck stop east of Seattle that seems to be better than most but still not good enough for me that does halfway decent work

The best you're going to get in south central Texas is Clay in San Antonio. While he has an oscilloscope on his bench, he doesn't use it to do the transmit. He does a better job with receive than most.

    rabbiporkchop and FF436 Thank this.

High voltage in Knoxville is really good...

Stay away from Pit bull in Lincoln, Nebraska, at all costs.
