connex has 2 radios the one that glows in the dark and the 4300,i think. it has a 300-400 watt linear built in the bottom of the radio.

I need to get a new radio and i wanted opinions as to what the best radio was. I have had unidens in the past and they have been ok. I was looking at the cobra with bluetooth. Anyone else run this? I would like a radio that can be tweaked and peaked.

Almost any radio can be "peaked and tweaked". Unidens are good radios, as are the older Cobras which were made by Uniden. The newer Cobras are ok.

As for the best radio, IMO either Uniden PC 68 or Cobra 25 LTD will serve you well. The Uniden PC 78 and the Cobra 29 LTD are also good radios.

Just some info for any of you interested in the Uniden PC78Elite Bearcat Pro Series CB Radio. There is a seller on ebay that has them on sale right now for 87.21 buy it now with free shipping. I just purchased one and also there is a 30.00 mail in rebate. They will bring the price down to less than 60.00 for a new radio. I think he has 12 left. I can't wait to get mine. The ebay number is 270505560771

I mainly asked this question because a local CB guy that i have dealt with in the past has said that both uniden and cobra have cut way back in the quality of their radios. He recommended some other brands that i can't remember, probably connex etc... So i just wanted to see if you guys still liked the newer unidens and cobra's before i went out and bought one and was dissapointed. I have an old fieldmaster right now.

I did have a Uniden PC68LTW that was a 2005 model...it was ok for what it was. Though I tend to think my Cobra 21 that was built in 1979 is better made. The Cobra I think sounds better though.

The rumor I've heard is the exports are not as well constructed as the Unidens, but I do not know for sure if this is true or not.

    One point here is .......

You have to make up your mind ....

MOST CB RADIOS are clean and do what they were built to do which may or may not be what you want HOWEVER they are LEAGAL .

IF you are unhappy them you go get ILLEGAL mods made to the radio .... OR ..... Put a kick bunns amp on it.

There are standards to which radios are made if a company is useing them they will bragg about it....

What most *&*& about is the SMT parts ...... Yes I'm stuck with them on the radios I work on they are NO FUN to fix.

But get use to them it's not going to get better.

I recommend either a Cobra 25 LTD classic or a Uniden PC 68.
