Orientation classes can be quite large at times. Usual 3 day event to go over company policies. Driving test is a cinch. It's not a race, they just want to make sure your safe and make good decisions. Take your time and if needed, get out and look when backing. Driving test was one on one, so no peer pressure from the other drivers watching. There's usually one slightly tight turn, the tester will announce it early. Piece of cake. Slow down, signal and scoot over a little when clear to make the turn. If you do have to jump a curb, just ease it over really slow. Eveybody does it. So don't sweat it. Medical clinic onsite in Indianapolis is nice! Truck availability varies depending on class size. Teams will get preference in truck assignments, so probably will have one by the end of orientation or the next day. It's a big company, so they have to match large driver turnover with available trucks. I was sent down to Texas to get my truck from the terminal there. Go over the truck thoroughly and make a detailed inspection. Helps to take pictures of anything you find also. The shop will fix everything for your, but be aware, the Indy shop is often overwhelmed with trucks and can take forever getting to you. Didn't care for the company barracks, so I paid for my own motel room down the road. Medical exam was simple, but times are changing with all the new health rules. It's been a couple of years since I went through. Don't know anything about all this new sleep apnea stuff companies are pushing on drivers. But Celadon didn't push it back when I went through.

(Hints!) Beg, Borrow, Steal lots of the thick metal cable security seals needed for Canada border crossings while your there! They are hard to come by at first! They were constantly out at ALL the terminals when I was there. Chat up a couple of the old timers passing through while your in orientation. They will share a couple with you to get started. Take all the forms they give you for Canada crossing and make lots of copies while your there! Stockup on extra barcode stickers for the forms too! Good luck and Drive Safe!

P.S. Avoid getting maintenance/pm's at Indy and Laredo. Huge number of trucks waiting there at all times. Will be sitting for a day or more waiting in line! I tried to plan my maintenance through the Waxahachie terminal. Much quicker, especially if your under a load.
