I talked to one of their lease purchase guys when I was at Owens corning in brookville indiana few weeks back, guy seemed pretty happy, was driving a 2014 lonestar. Said he pays around 1200 a week, and runs 2 weeks at a time, and swears he's making good money.

Did he say what all he was covering with $1200? I was told truck cost is $610/week . If the rest is fuel thats not alot of miles. I could see $1200 week in fuel maybe. 2000-2500 miles depending on cost on mpg. The mileage makes more sense.

Was told that weekly cost of truck was between 800 to 950 depending on truck and age. That it covered truck tags, insurence, authority, taxes. Fuel was not included because thats a variable cost. Did say it was a 100% walkaway lease.

If I did it and was clearing$ 1,000-$1,500/week or better I would stick with it. But its good to know if I am starving to death I can walk away with no penalty. FYI... I run for a regional carrier and run 2-3000 miles a week when the loads are there. 3-6 loads a week. Home every weekend

Couple friends of mine who run lease purchases parrot the same thing most say here, you have got to read the details of your lease, you've got to understand it, you have to watch all your expenses, you can't stop at every truck stop, you have to be very efficiant at running, and you have got to know what your numbers are. Both have complete several lease purchases paid their tricks off, and sold them or traded them in on brand new trucks with sizable down payments. The big thing I see are drivers taking out constant advances, buying unneeded crap, and not keeping track of their Tax liability, and then spending above their means through out the year. Then come tax time, they get saddled with a large Tax bill that they aren't able to overcome.

Very true. I have run a small fab shop before so I know how to keep track of exspenses & xfigure out my profit margins. Iplan on having a copy of all the lease documents sent to me before I make a final decision. The tax part Iis what worries me a bit, in terms of how big a bite is it seeing you cant do your expense writeoffs till you file. I have a call into my accountant/tax guy. He said hes worked with lots of o/o and will give me his advise/help. Didnt have time to talk long said he'll get back to me. He's an old family friend. I made the living above my means mistake before when I was younger. I wont make it again. Me and the wife are big spenders or such. I will keep food in the truck fridge and avoid buying anything at truckstops.

instead of telling the bad which is the truth about celadon. some great advice. work as a company driver for at least a year. and see if celadon would be a good business partner to have. that's exactly what is happening when you sign the lease. is they are your business partner. I was there for a year. and I personally don't see celadon as a place I would want to do business with.
