To answer your question about Canada..Yes it is a requirement of your employment here to go in and out of Canada..Now having said that let me explain to you the procedure..It is not hard at all and actually very easy for the driver..We pick up the load, fill out a fax cover sheet with all the information as to whom the broker is and the info on the bill of lading, then we take this and fax it with all the paperwork from the shipper to the the broker at the border, after about an hr or so you will get a transaction number which is your entry number to cross the border..This is sent to you on your qualcomm..It's that easy..Nothing more nothing less..As far as staying warm in the truck...We have what are called ESBAR HEATERS.. These heaters run without idling the truck..And believe me they will toast u out once they get warmed up, which takes about 15 min or so. If you have anymore questions, I have a thread on here also called Bunny at Celadon. Feel free to navigate over there and review the posts over there.. Have a great day driver.

Sort of funny they never let any of the drivers know that one. My hubby isn't able to go to Canada because of a DUI on his record. That explains a lot of things.

Ladies, there r no exceptions to the rules...The recruiters never were telling the drivers about it and then it came down from the management that it had to be enforced so now they enforce it..Also, let me tell u this, if u were hired on or before june/july 08 you do not fall under this rule. Only those hired on after june/july..I particularly was hired on b4 this and yes I do at times say hey take me off the Canada side of the things I need a break..They do it..

My hubby went there before June too. There was no way my hubby could go to Canada. I'm not arguing with ya! They may be using that to weed out drivers too though, especially the way things are all over the industry. My hubby did relay quite a few Canada loads while he was there. Some going in and some of them had come out of Canada.

As far as using that to weed out drivers...Maybe not so much..We have alot of drivers that are old school and won't go into Canada just because they don't like leaving the country..And they have been here quite awhile. I think the weeding out part comes in when the ones that are asked to go into Canada refuse to even attempt to go to the border and find out if they can or not. What alot of people need to understand is that there is alot of freight coming from Canada and going to Canada.. My miles dropped when I took my break from running up there and when I started again my miles picked up again..So there are alot of factors people need to think about when choosing your freight. Most of the freight is really just passing through the USA and going to Mexico..So those are the loads people want just because of the miles on it..Figure it's about 1700 miles from the Detroit Canadian border to Laredo,Tx also add in the miles you're getting from where ever you pick up in Ontario..That's usually around 300 to 400 miles extra..So there's your load coming out of Canada.. Now granted that's not the case every time you come out. But the miles are better if you run both the USA and Canada..
